Knowing the best way to enjoy Rockpool Lodge will make all the difference to your holiday. Some suggestions are noted below:
Skiing
If you have young children, it is easiest to load up the car with the kids and their stuff, and drive down to Friday Flat and park in the 15min loading bay. Once they're in ski school, take the car back to the lodge.
Walk down Mountain Drive taking the signed left turn to Friday Flat. Pick up the Gunbarrel Lift and you’re away.
It is best not to ski down to Friday Flat at the end of your day. Although in good snow you can ski to the front door, at other times ski as far as you can down to the top of the bobsled run (Sundance Run off the Supertrail), then walk down the track to the lodge. Alternatively, stop at Creek Station (off High Noon) and remove your skis and turn left down the Merrits Nature Track. This will take you right to the Rockpool - walk across the bridge to the lodge.
Office Facilities
You can still run your company while you’re high in the Snowy Mountains at Rockpool Lodge. Fax Machine, Photocopier, Scanner, Flatscreen PC, Printer, Wireless LAN, and high speed ADSL. If you use a wireless laptop, all you need to do is turn it on! You’re fully connected, and secure.
Entertainment System
The lodge is equipt with a full audio-visual system. The TV is mounted into the chimney, and the sound system and DVD etc. are under the stairs. 6.1 channel sound speakers are mounted in the ceiling. The system is sophisicated, so we have tried to simplify the controls by using a universal remote which allows selection of either TV; DVD; VHS or Austar. Radio and a CD Jukebox are also available, and the settings have been programmed relative to the type of entertainment chosen.
Heating
There are two heating systems in the lodge - under-floor and ducted-gas. The under-floor heating will be set based on the season and maintains the temperature, with the gas system useful for quick heating. Don't leave the gas heating on or you will cook!
The under-floor heating is controlled in 5 areas: Drying Room; Entry; Sitting Area; Ensuite and Bathroom.
Note that there is a delay after turning the gas heater on,before it actually starts, and also a delay after turning the heater off before it actually turns off.
